Flyby Photography has an ongoing working relationship with Redrow Homes, we are currently monitoring a number of sites that are spread across the South East and providing the Construction directors Aerial Photography off the sites to monitor progress. We were commissioned to ‘map’ a site in Herne Bay, to allow the client to calculate volumetric measurements of stock piles across the site. The weather has not been on a drone operators side over the last few weeks, but we thankfully had a short break in the weather in the morning for a couple of hours that were within safe operational limits. The mission was planned through a third party app, and just four short flights were required to capture the 1110 images needed to create the orthomoasic, with a flight time of approximately an hour. The site is 114 acres, with lots of undeveloped space, allowing us to change location with battery swaps to maintain VLOS (Visual Line Of Sight) with the UAV throughout the entirety of the mission. Back at the office, the geo-tagged images were uploaded to a cloud based rendering program, and the final output map was rendered within 24 hours, take a look around the site here: The software allows for the client to track stock volumes, and take accurate measurements, as well as the orthomoasic being a useful addition to site Health and Safety, allowing to client to show visitors and areas of interest and hazards when being inducted to the site. Below are low res snippets showing the site as it appears on Google Maps, and the overlaid orthomosaic deliverable. Find out more about our Drone Construction Services.
