Freelance Camera Operator Vacancy

​Flyby Photography are specialists in Aerial Photography & Filming using the latest in UAV (drone) technology and are currently expanding operations. As a result, we are currently looking to make contact with videographer freelancers, to become payload operators on our inspire platform. This is ad-hoc work, with the view to become more regular as the need arises. Knowledge of UAV practices and operations is desirable, but training will be given to individuals that meet the criteria below.
Depending on the availability of the candidate, the role could lead to a more senior position over time.

Role Specification

The role will involve travelling to various sites around the country with the occasional need to overnight on locations. Accommodation will be supplied, and travel from our office based near Ashford, Kent.
Key duties:

• Operating the camera payload with experience of knowing ideal camera settings for various shooting conditions. (i.e shutter speed, ISO, Aperture, frame rate, the use of ND’s etc..)
• Operating the UAV camera whilst in flight, with smooth cinematic operation with a dedicated remote and display.
• To ensure compliance with Flyby Photography’s permission for commercial operation and all associated legislation governing UAV flights
• Communicating key information from the video feed to the pilot during flight.
• Spotting duties and crowd management.
• Maintaining contact with the police, air traffic control and other bodies
•  Working in congested areas such as London

​Person Specification 

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications, qualities and experience as a minimum: 

• To have a creative eye for film
• A passion for photography/ videography
• Experience and interest in UAV technology
• The ability to work unsocial hours with early starts and late finishes
• To have a safe and risk averse approach to operations 
• Pride in upholding the image of the company and smart appearence
• To have good organizational and communication skills 
• To be able to work to agreed timescales and have good problem-solving skills 
• To be able to work as part of a team
• To be flexible and willing to work at short notice
• The ability to maintain situational awareness
• The candidate must be 18+ to satisfy our insurers and operations manual
• No previous criminal convictions
• Own transport is essential
• To be based within 25 miles of Ashford, Kent

Desirable 
The following qualifications and experience are desirable, but are not necessarily required: 

• A current and valid PFCO
•  Experience and interest in UAV technology
•  To have a high level of competency flying in non-GPS guided flight modes (Atti), in a variety of orientations and environmental conditions 
• Experience building/ maintaining small UAVs
• A working knowledge of Adobe products- Premier Pro, After Effects, Lightroom & Photoshop
• To have a solid understanding of the laws governing UAV flights
• Knowledge of planning missions, risk assessment’s and risk mitigation measures
• CSCS Card
• PPE- We supply branded Hi-Vis vests, and hardhats, you will be required to provide your own steel toe capped boots for site visits.

Pay is negotiable depending on experience
